Sixty years of professional agriculture and hobby gardening. Sixty years in which Cifo – acronym for Casa Italiana Fertilizzanti Organici (Italian House of Organic Fertilizers) – has cultivated a vision: that of an agriculture respectful of the environment, attentive to the needs of those who work the land, and committed to the well-being of soil, plants, and people.
Founded in 1965 through the vision of entrepreneur Romano Ghedini, the company has grown to become a national benchmark in the world of fertilizers, biostimulants, and green solutions. The production site, still active today in San Giorgio di Piano, in the province of Bologna, remains the beating heart of a brand that has always believed in sustainable innovation as a lever for progress and responsibility.

A Pioneering Vision.

Sixty years ago, talking about biostimulants in agriculture was a revolutionary concept. Today, it is a mature sector, at the center of sustainable innovation.

As early as the 1970s, with the launch of Sinergon, a biostimulant line of products— considered one of the  first biostimulants distributed on a large scale in Italy — the company introduced a new approach.

A silent revolution that paved the way for other practices now essential for efficient agriculture, such as foliar fertilization and fertigation.

When Cifo started, the market only offered traditional products

We were one of the first to introduce new tools and application methods, such as foliar fertilization and fertigation, essentially creating the market we know today.

From Agriculture to Gardening, with Green Branding as a Common Thread

In the 1980s, when the concept of green branding was still in its infancy, Cifo was already investing in press and TV communications, establishing itself as a familiar and recognizable brand for many Italians.
Florists, who at the time also distributed fertilizers, were the first allies.
Today, those channels have evolved into modern garden centers, and Cifo has grown steadily, always keeping quality at the center of its strategy.

The Home & Garden Division is now among the most advanced in Italy, combining professional technical expertise with a strong organic-based vocation.
From the BioNatura® product line, made with organic-based raw materials and recycled packaging, to TOP N fertilizer, a symbol of circularity derived from renewable resources, every product is designed for conscious and environmentally aware consumers.

Research and Consulting

At the heart of Cifo’s success lies a solid scientific culture and a consulting-based approach.
In 1981, the company founded one of Italy’s first private laboratories dedicated to plant nutrition, supported by a network of Sales Support and Green Advisors who play a key role in technical training and assistance throughout the country.

Today, Cifo, part of the international group Huber Agrosolutions, serves over 5,500 sales points across Italy.
It is a company that blends agricultural tradition, innovation, and sustainability, continuing to evolve to meet future challenges.
