In order to come up with quality products capable of fully satisfying the consumer, during the years Cifo has established strong research partnerships with prestigious national bodies and Universities, carrying out extensive experiments and testing the products on different cultivations at the main production facilities across the country.

The production facilities and the registered offices of the company are in S. Giorgio di Piano, just outside Bologna. Since 1965, Cifo has been producing special fertilizers and biostimulants for the Gardening and Agricultural sectors, selling them both in Italy and abroad.

Every day, many people at Cifo are engaged in the most diverse activities and projects, which however all pursue the one common objective of full customer satisfaction, but without ever losing sight of what our brand represents: the creation and spreading of quality.

THE STRUCTURE

TWO DIVISIONS AT THE SERVICE OF QUALITY

The commercial department feeds from two large product divisions: gardening and agriculture.

The gardening division offers a wide range of fertilisers in liquid and powder form, tablets, slow release feeds, granules; seeds and fertilisers for lawns, special products for specific needs. And also medical-surgical facilities, products for ornamental plants, products for the protection of vegetables and ornamental plants, and other various products, such as green enhancing, leaf shine and preserving solutions. The agricultural division offers very high quality products: liquid or powder fertilisers, simple and NPK, single and complex meso and micro elements, humic extracts, organic and organic-mineral fertilisers, plant growth regulators. And also a range of organic products to meet the needs of professional organic farmers, and a wide range of specific products for other harvest care and protection requirements. OUR LABORATORIES AND OUR RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

The Cifo quality comes to life in our laboratories, where a qualified team of researches develops new formulas, whilst at the same time checking, improving and monitoring existing ones. Our laboratories and research departments are extremely important for our activity, as they provide an essential contribution to quality control during the whole production process, through analyses of the raw materials used, as well as of the semi-finished and finished products.

OUR PRODUCTION AND STATE OF THE ART EQUIPMENT

Our production takes place in our plant, using state of the art equipment to ensure a strictly controlled production process.

Extensive agriculture is an agricultural production system that uses small inputs of labor, fertilizers and capital relative to the land area being farmed. Extensive agriculture is distinguished from intensive agriculture in that the latter, employing large amounts of labor and capital, enables one to apply fertilizers, plant protection products and to plant, cultivate, and often harvest mechanically. Because extensive agriculture produces a lower yield per unit of land, its use commercially requires large quantities of land in order to be profitable. This demand for land means that extensive agriculture must be carried on where land values are low in relation to labour and capital, which in turn means that extensive agriculture is practiced where population densities are low and thus usually at some distance from primary markets. The production of cereal and industrial crops tends to be the focal point for agricultural enterprises. Cereals like Sorghum, Millets, Wheat, Maize and Rice are major staple foods of the most population.

In 1999, the Management of the company decided to move towards Quality Management System certification (UNI EN ISO 9001) as a mean to include Total Quality as part of the company culture. In practical terms, this translates into strict planning and control and continuous improvement of operations, production processes and decision making procedures. To obtain this result, Cifo S.p.A. enrolled one of the most renowned certifying bodies in Italy: Certiquality.

In 2001 Cifo obtained the environmental certification. Complying with international standard UNI EN ISO14001 meant the implementation of an Environmental Management System that through a well organised and systematic approach aimed at continuous improvement would give the possibility of assessing the specific environmental performance levels of the activities. The Environmental Management System guarantees that the necessary checks are in place to make sure that all company processes are carried out in controlled conditions, so that the commitments specifically outlined in the policy disclosed to all stakeholders (staff, customers, suppliers, distributors, public bodies and category associations, etc.) are met.

Moreover, for the Management Team and all stakeholders compliance with the BS OHSAS 18001 standards demonstrates the need to define a method to check that the production processes are and remain consistent with the requirement of ensuring the health and safety of Cifo personnel.

By strictly adhering to the three management systems, Cifo makes everyone clearly aware of its decision to manufacture its products in full respect of the environment and mankind, continuing to organise its processes with a commitment to Quality. As recognition of the results achieved, in 2003 Cifo obtained the Excellence certificate, becoming one of the first companies in Italy to obtain certification in the three systems.

At the moment, our products are distributed in almost all the countries of the Middle East: Egypt, Morocco, Libya, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Iraq, Kuwait, Turkey, Greece, Cyprus.

Our presence is also significant in Eastern Europe, South East Asia and India. We are working on new projects in the Dominican Republic and Australia, and for the expansion of our customer portfolio in all South American emerging countries.

A line of products specially developed for the sector of vegetable crops, flower growing and nursery and created for those who daily work with the physiology and nutrition of plants. Products for the soil

The products for direct soil application have the function to improve the fertility of soil, provide it with microelements, restore an optimal balance between present and reserve substances and grant the plants a gradual release of nitrogen energy in the initial stages.

Products for Fertigation

The products for application by fertigation include a specific line of microcrystalline fertigation formulas, Fertyflor, and a line of liquid fertigation products – Granserra – perfect to satisfy the nutrition needs of all plants. To complete the fertilization: formulas based on calcium and magnesium, iron chelates and mixtures of microelements. A specific product to grant nutrition solutions with the right pH value and at the same time to provide plants with an important energetic element like phosphorous.
Finally, the benefits of the amino acids and the humic acids – suitable for fertigation too – with three special products that in the last years have won the trust of horticulturists, flower growers and nurserymen.

Leaf application products

Leaf fertilization plays a fundamental role in improving the production quality of vegetable crops, flower growing and nurseries. The plants that are suffering, scrubby or chlorotic due to nutrition deficiencies are able to give neither qualitative nor quantitative results in production. The Floral line, with the essential, highly pure NPK fertilizers, is able to complete plant nutrition thus making them balanced and productive. The Fast line, featuring single meso-microelements based products, allows to prevent and cure any disorder due to nutrition deficiencies. The amino acid based specialties improve plant performance and increase the final production, most of all the qualitative aspects required by the consumer (dimensions, colour, perfumes and flavour). Finally, the strength of marine nutrition elements to protect the plants against physiologic and thermal stresses and the action of the biostimulant to support plant development.

Phytosanitary Products

Plants multiplication by cuttings is extremely widespread in the nursery sector. This is why the hormonal product – liquid or in ready-to-use powder – is useful and necessary to improve the rooting of wood cuttings. The wetting – adhesion improving product is suitable to enhance the effectiveness of the anti-parasite solutions because it creates a wider contact area between product and leaf and favours product absorption. The acidifier improves the efficacy of treatments.

Particolarmente efficaci per la prolungata azione rinverdente, per la prevenzione e la cura della clorosi ferrica

Induttori di resistenza

Per incrementare le naturali resistenze della pianta favorendo la produzione di sostanze con azione di difesa.

Carenza di microelementi

Per prevenire e curare le principali microcarenze, rinforzando ed irrobustendo le essenze seminate. Grazie all’azione catalitica dei microelementi contenuti permette di ottenere una maggiore resistenza ed una migliore resa estetica del manto erboso.

Stress

In qualunque fase del ciclo colturale per migliorare la resistenza delle piante agli stress o per velocizzare la ripresa dei normali processi fisiologici dopo stress causati da alterazioni termiche, fisiologiche o da trattamenti di vario genere.
